News & Information
LATEST NEWS 1 December 2023 Dates for 2024 Track league events will take place on the following dates in 2024:
Registration for the 2024 season opens on 6th December 2023 and covers both sessions. 7 November 2023 Premier and First Division leagues incorporated With effect from the week commencing 7th November 2023, Manchester Regional Track League will move to a single event taking place on a Friday evening and incorporating both Premier and First Division leagues. Based on the number of entries spread across both leagues in recent years, it has become financially unsustainable to continue to offer two separate nights of racing. The organising committee have therefore decided that a single weekly event is the best way to secure the continuation of the Track League. A revised programme will continue to offer all riders the best racing opportunities, and we will maintain a separate points structure and overall standings for each league. This website and the British Cycling online entry system have been updated to reflect these changes. We look forward to welcoming all riders to our first combined event which will take place on Friday 10th November 2023, starting at 7.30pm Event Dates (from 10/11/23)
NEWS ARCHIVE 24 July 2023 We are delighted to confirm that racing will return for our winter session in October 2023. Racing will resume on both Tuesday and Friday nights for all riders and the dates are shown below:
Continuation of Tuesday night events beyond 31st October will be subject to review based on the number of riders competing in the first 4 weeks. Registration is open now and entries will open on the date shown above. The closing date for pre-entries is one hour before the start of racing. We also accept entries on the night for both Premier and First Division events. If you wish to do this please ensure that you are already registered for 2023 before coming to the track, you can do this here. If paying by cash it would help us if you could bring the correct amount, current fees are here. You can only ride in the Division in which you are registered, so Premier Division riders can not enter First Division events and vice versa. Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2023 The Annual General Meeting of Manchester Regional Track League will be held on Tuesday 12th September 2023. For full details visit our AGM page at the link below:

01 February 2023 Track League racing is now back in full swing at the Velodrome. To help your planning after such a long break, for both Tuesday and Friday nights we have extended the closing date for pre-entries to one hour before the start of racing. In addition we will now also accept entries on the night for both Premier and First Division. If you wish to do this please ensure that you are already registered for 2023 before coming to the track, you can do this here. If paying by cash it would help us if you could bring the correct amount, current fees are here You can only ride in the Division in which you are registered, so Premier Division riders can not enter First Division events and vice versa. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the continuing refurbishment works at the venue, there will be no scoreboard or PA during track league until further notice. Full results will be published here on our website no later than 72 hours following completion of each event. 7 December 2022 Good news - track league racing will return in January 2023! Following confirmation from the National Cycling Centre and British Cycling we are pleased to announce that Manchester Regional Track League racing will return in January 2023. These are the dates for the first session, confirmation of the second session dates will follow.
Entries will open on 12th December 2022 for the first 6 weeks of racing. Current registrations have been carried forward to 2023 so there is no need for existing members to re-apply. New members can register for 2023 here. Riders being promoted from First Division to Premier Division have been notified of this. Due to the foreshortened session of racing in 2021/2022, no overall winners will be awarded for this period. The National Cycling Centre will reopen soon for training sessions, so we encourage you to take advantage of these to re acquaint yourself with riding on the boards. Update - 12 October 2022 Due to the delay in completion of the major refurbishment works at the National Cycling Centre, we are currently unable to confirm when our track league will be able to resume. Because of the nature of the work that is taking place, on completion it will be necessary for British Cycling to carry out a risk assessment of the venue before any permits for racing can be issued. We are in regular contact with the venue management and will bring you further information both here and on our social media feeds as soon as we have it. In the meantime registration and entries remain closed, however any 2022 registrations already processed will be carried forward to the next session. Winter session 2021 - track is back! We are delighted to confirm that racing will return for our winter session in October 2021. Unfortunately the intended schedule of works to refurbish the National Cycling Centre will impact our first session of 2022, so the decision has been taken to combine the winter sessions of 2021 and 2022 into one league competition. Racing will resume on both Tuesday and Friday nights for all riders, and the dates for 2021 are shown below:
Registration is open now and will cover the combined 2021/2022 sessions. Competitors with outstanding entries from previously cancelled events have already been contacted regarding options for rescheduling.

New COVID-19
Regulations force immediate suspension of racing 15th October 2020 Following the introduction of the new COVID-19 alert levels this week, Sport England have this evening issued guidance to British Cycling that sanctioned indoor activities in areas at Tier 2 & 3 must be suspended with immediate effect. Regrettably this means that Manchester Regional Track League is unable to continue whilst these restrictions remain in place, and all our events – including First Division racing on Friday 16th October – are suspended until further notice. We are bitterly disappointed that racing must once again come to a halt so soon after us restarting, and although there are exemptions for youth and disabled riders we have a duty of care to ALL of our track league members and their families to ensure their safety. The current COVID alert levels are scheduled for Government review in four weeks. Competitors who have already entered our events up to the end of October will be contacted shortly regarding the options available for rescheduling their entries.

If you use tubular tyres they MUST be stuck on firmly. Failure to do so is a danger to yourself and other riders. Our race officials will carry out random checks to ensure compliance with this instruction. Any rider whose tyres are found to be insecurely fixed will be suspended from racing until the problem is rectified. Thanks for your co-operation.
Division 1 Group Information
With many new riders
registering for Division 1 in 2016, the track league organisers have
assigned new riders to groups based on information from the rider's
profile on the BC website. In some cases it may be more appropriate for a rider to be moved to another group, and where necessary this will be done during the first few weeks of the league once a rider's capabilities have been assessed. In all cases the group to which a rider is assigned is at the absolute discretion of the track league organisers. |
